      updated for Alpha 2 - Test 3

      Hey all,

Seeing all the questions appear in global chat during the stress test this week, I felt like making a guide that should allow players to understand the basics of the current game.

If you feel like I am missing something essential or something seems unclear, please comment below.

General TIP: The tutorial is a great way to learn about the mechanics in Fractured. It does not explain everything but will get you started. Please finish the tutorial!

      Contents:

      • Tutorial
      • General controls
      • Health, Satiety and Energy
      • Skills/Abilities and Talents
      • Crafting
      • Building
      • Enchanting

    • Needed party markers

      Hey,

I'm pretty sure someone has mentioned it somewhere already, but my search couldn't come up with any references.

It is currently very easy to lose your party. The camera is rather zoomed in and with the character movement speed, allows for other players to step out of your screen very fast - in some directions easier than others due to the camera tilt.

It would be tremendously helpful to have party member markers on the edge of your screen or even on the mini map (this seems to be somewhat supported with quest markers already) to find lost parties easier.

The current process involves asking for coordinates, then trying to get there. As team play with player cities in the next playtest seems to be even more relevant, I am hoping this feature could make it into the same update. Besides that, I am certain this is a planned feature already. Just hoping for an implementation sooner than later.

      Any thoughts?

      Enchanting

If you just want to get started, read below, otherwise visit the detailed guide on enchanting in the forums.

Check out the the Vandiir Enchanting Calculator or the Enchanting Calculator by @maze to find some enchantment recipes.

Enchanting can be done at any enchantment table that you have built or been given access to. It DOES NOT WORK at the public one in town!

      Enchanting.png

To enchant, place any equipment (helmet, body armor, gloves, shoes, necklace or any weapon) into the center (green box). You will now see possible enchantments on the right side (blue box) - scroll down to see more.

Each enchantment requires 4 attributes listed underneath the enchantment name. Mouse over to see the names.
Each enchanting ingredient has three attributes listed in their tooltip. To place the enchantment you want onto the equipment in the enchanter, you need to place ingredients in the outer squares (red boxes) and match the enchantment attributes with at least 2 points.

Mana Regeneration requires Mind, Transfer, Time and Energy. Placing Ashes and Mandrake Root into the enchanter, gives us:

      Enchanting - Ashes.png

We need the 2 Transfer and 3 Time

      Enchanting - Mandrake Root.png

We need the 2 Mind and 3 Energy

We now have at least 2 in Mind, Transfer, Time and Energy and the Enchantment is now highlighted and available (white box) for placing onto the equipment. Click on “Enchant” and you are done.

For more details, please visit the detailed enchanting guide.

      Tutorial

The tutorial is getting updates with almost every playtest, so it is a work in progress. I will not update this section or walk you through the tutorial, but:

General TIP: The tutorial is a great way to learn about the mechanics in Fractured. It does not explain everything but will get you started. Please finish the tutorial!

Look out for quest markers as green stars on your mini map. They will guide you to important locations or crafting stations to complete the tutorial.

You can zoom in and out with your mouse-wheel. Camera rotation is not supported.

      Moving items
      You can:

      • drag and drop items to move them between containers or your inventory

    • Vandiir Enchantment Calculator V1.2

      Hey all,

There still seems to be an issue with the downloaded version. Please use V1.1 as a downloaded version for now. I will work on this and update asap.

I was thinking about this since the start of the test - unsure if I would want to keep it private or make it public. Well, here is my answer to hopefully end some confusion and suffering when it comes to enchantments:

      How to get it

      1. Open the Vandiir Enchantment Calculator.
      2. Download a copy of the google sheet locally.
      3. Follow the instructions in the file to get your most wanted enchantments right.

I understand that you can use the online sheet. A Download is not necessary ultimately. BUT you will be competing with multiple people to change values in the same sheet. And the online version is slow. A locally saved copy will get results in 1-2 seconds, the online version will take closer to 1 minute. Especially having to reenter your inventory items all the time would be very tedious as well!

      What does it do?

      • You select the wanted tier and enchantment and will be given the ingredients you should use.
      • you can configure items in your possession to only be used (manual entry needed - it does not look at your ingame inventory)

      Keeping this up to date

This game is still in development and things which are currently accurate may not be forever. I would love for this to be a community effort to report new ingredients, changed values for ingredients/enchantments and any bugs you find.

Please report missing ingredients, incorrect values or wrong enchantments in a reply to this channel with @Silynx.

I am hoping we will see a full version of something similar that is web based in a real website format which will allow to configure whole equipment sets and lists all needed ingredients and such, maybe including some pricing options and such. But I can't do that. I can do excel and the current file is already getting pretty large. And I would hope for that to be a public release.

There are other great tools out there: Like the great character sheet by Maze as well as some other enchantment tools. I would love for there to be a better interconnection between all these tools, so we don't all have to update ingredient lists as we go. If anyone has a great idea for that - I'm all ear.

      Old Versions
      V1.1

      Enjoy,

    • RE: Why bake bread?

      Hey,

I think you are absolutely correct. I wouldn't bake bread if it wasn't required for the tutorial. But that is only true for the current state of the game.

I'm fairly certain once other professions are being introduced and crafting overall gets some meaning, it might be beneficial to grow different vegetables, wheat or so because it might allow you to craft food items that do more than just refill satiety.

In my opinion, that's exactly why fields are shown as hotspots in the dev diary you are referring to. At some point, food will have a decent bonus or is necessary to feed NPCs in your town or such.

But as I said at the very start: as of this state of the game, bread and fields are purely useless as you acquire enough during your adventures.

      Health, Satiety and Energy

      Health Bar.png

Green Bar: This is your endurance. Damage inflicted by enemies will be taken from this. If it reaches 0, you will KO and wake back up 30 seconds later with a replenished endurance bar.

Red Bar: This is your life. After taking damage to endurance, life will drain and replenish endurance.
If you get KO'd with 0 life, you will be dead, drop all items in your inventory and respawn at a town or house.

Blue Bar: This is your mana. It is used by various skills and spells. There is no penalty for having 0 mana besides not being able to use some or all your skills.

All these bars replenish over time depending on your regeneration rates shown in your character window (Hotkey: c)
You can also replenish these completely by resting at a campfire or fireplace.

TIP: For better survival, always gather up to 10 small stones and carry them with you. It is easy to find 5 branches anywhere and you can build a campfire (10 small stones, 5 branches) when you really need it!

The sausage like symbol with two antennae inside the circle’s bottom indicates your satiety or hunger. It drains over time and can be replenished by…well, food! If this reaches 0, your life will drain and cause you to die eventually.

Above our satiety indicator, is our Energy. This also drains automatically over time and can only be replenished by resting at a campfire or fireplace.
If it reaches 0, it will start draining your endurance and cause you to KO eventually.

    • RE: Physical Immune enemies should be removed.

I very much agree with @SakuTheMedic, that immunities add to the requirement playing this game in a group. Solo is sure viable but maybe not all content everywhere and that seems reasonable. I would not favor removing all immunities.

      Hey,

The Master Wizard ricochet hits do not aggro any monsters. Tested on Wolf packs.

Did not test this with the ricochet archer ability or pierce damages.

    • RE: Toon Builds Notes Section

As @Shivashanti pointed out, 18 is the maximum in a single stat during creation for humans. You can get additional points by:

      • 2 points: enchantment
      • 2 points: talent tree

For a total of 22 points possible. You won't be able to achieve that in every stat.

      I hope that helps,

    • mage staffs and ranged modifiers

      Hey,

I believed that mage staffs had nothing to do with ranged modifiers until this thread came up.

+ranged attack damage nodes don't seem to work on mage staffs (as expected) since it is not classified as a ranged weapon but a mage weapon for ability and damage purposes.

Now, the talent clearly states that the pierce only works for projectiles from ranged weapons but this seems to work as intended, confirmed by Prometheus, even with staffs.

This seems very confusing to me. Maybe change the wording for the Sharpshooter talent to be: "Projectiles have a 30% chance to pierce through multiple targets". Just leaving out the "of ranged weapons" part would clarify that for me.

      Anyone feel different/same about this?

    • 3440x1440 Resolution unavailable since recent patch

      Hey,

I used to test play Fractured in 3440x1440 and 1920x1080 resolutions. Since the most recent patch (2.3.3p) the video settings no longer allow for 3440x1440 and have changed my active settings to 2560x1440.

Not sure if this is/was intentional. Clearly not a high priority issue.

@asspirin and the usage of memory points guarantees you won't have as many abilities as in wow.
But quick slots are not just used for abilities, but items as well. So even a low inteligence character can probably fill 10 quick slots. And if not? That's fine too. It's not a requirement to fill them.

@Smax When you say you can't place the blueprint, does the blueprint just show red everywhere or what's the exact issue you are experiencing?

Did the roof of the house get built?

Did you put down the blueprint for the house?

And not sure how new you are to the game but blueprints need to put down my right-clicking after selecting the blueprint.

Just going my checklist of possibilities. Hope that helps,

    • RE: Vandiir Enchantment Calculator V1.2

I like the idea and will see if I can figure that out. I wasn't aware that different items in the same slot have different enchantment options yet. If that ends up being the case and we would need to make a database more or less per item, that's going to be again more of a challenge to integrate it with the wiki to avoid needing to update both things all the time.

    • RE: Vandiir Enchantment Calculator V1.2

      V1.2 now available!

Huge thanks to @kellewic for reaching out and finding a solution to integrate the wiki data into this sheet. The ingredients list is now being pulled directly from the wiki. If you find a problem after an update and some ingredient seems to show the wrong value in my sheet, it's time to update the wiki.

This is exactly the kind of collaboration I was hoping for. I am beyond excited right now. Let me know if anyone finds an error or a way to brick the thing 🙂

EDIT: There still seems to be an issue with the downloaded version. Please use V1.1 as a downloaded version for now. I will work on this and update asap.

      Thanks,
